about me

actor, theatre maker, director, musician, teacher, cogitator

GR blogportraitThis site is a log of creative endeavours – and a place for idle thoughts; reflections on current and past activities, which I hope will gain a coherence in the doing. In the absence of a dedicated archival website, I hope this will provide the opportunity to not only paint a picture of a complex now-here, but reflect on some significant there-thens.

I am a freelance actor / theatre-maker with a rolling portfolio of artistic associations. I work with the conviction that the more interesting new theatre is drawn out of a process-based collaboration. I have longstanding working relationships with a number of independent theatre companies. Here’s a quick resume;

Co-founder, glory what glory (1988-1991, with Katherine Anderson, Sara Giddens and Claire Spafford; joined by Andy Battell, Helen Buck and Martin Crook)

Co-founder, associate artist, Stan’s Cafe (1991 – present, with James Yarker)

Co-founder, The Resurrectionists (1995 – 2005, with Richard Chew; joined by Cheryl Pickering - now producing as Various People)

Associate artist, Bodies in Flight (1992-3, 2001 – present, directors Simon Jones & Sara Giddens)

Company member/Board Member, Red Shift Theatre Co. (1997-2000/2002 – present. Artistic director Jonathan Holloway)

Intermittant company member, Talking Birds (performed in 9 projects since 2002. Directors Nick Walker, Derek Nisbet & Janet Vaughan)

  1. What a stuff of un-ambiguity and preserveness of precious experience on the topic of unexpected emotions.
